4 MINUTE TYPEFACE

I had four minutes to burn between meetings, thought I would create a typeface that explored simplifying alphabetical characters through shape and mass.

ATELIER LA DURANCE: TRAVEL

I have a small obsession with travel bags and luggage in general. I am a fan of the classic suitcases of the 50's and 60's, and a lover of the gorgeous Hermes canvas/leather bags of past. An issue I always come across when traveling is: Do you go with a garment bag? A large Weekenderl? A modern suitcase; how does this choice differ from those I see in any other travelers hands? Not that I need to stand out, but I feel like I need to seperate myself a little bit (I don't want another black suitcase which I have to lift off the baggage claim to read the name to see if it's mine).

This bag is quite nice. If the craftsmanship is as good as their denim, which I'm sure it is, it must be amazing!

BEEF

I was walking to lunch and found this dope truck parked outside of the bbq spot down the block. That bull is as the homie would say: TASTY! (no pun intended)

Red Man, White Man, African Chief

I was fortunate enough to spend the day in wonderful Stillwater Minnesota yesterday. A pleasant location along the st. croix filled with sweet antiques and old awesomeness. Not many might know this, but I am a collector of racist americana. Toys, books, postcards, really whatever I can find. They represent a time in the US that was okay with these items being on the market, but also speak to how we have evolved culturally and how racial history through popular culture has influenced our perceptions of each other.

So, I didn't find anything that was too exciting (or it might have been too expensive). However, I found this sweet book that was published in 1960. An interesting book about educating children on race and color. The title itself is strangely stereotypical to me, but it also begs the question: Where are the asians and latino's? Asians have been in the US for hundreds of years, and descendants of Mexico occupied our southern portion of the country before settlers even came. That's just me being me though.

AMAZING

What an amazing fight! There was a lot of hype surrounding the new "pound for pound" champ Manny Pacquiao, but a lot of speculation as well if he deserved that title after beating Oscar De La Hoya with ease...Well, Manny Pacquiao lived up and exceeded the hype. Not only was his quickness and accuracy at a new level, the guy brought out a right hand that was just as deadly as his left. Despite having to get up in weight class to fight Hatton, the champ of his weight class, Pacquiao was masterful.

An exciting first round, where Pacquiao layed out Hatton twice, and then in the second with that vicious left that pushed Hatton's wig back, and knocked him out flat. Hat's off to Freddie Roach and Crew. CRAZY! Like Sil said "He's the asian Obama". I don't get it either, but..yeah. Mayweather?....Let's get it!
