NY POST....YOU ARE FUNNY...

It was only three months ago when we as a community of proud citizens declared that our nation would walk a new path. Using democracy with positivity and hope in our minds and hearts, and diminishing the corruption and darkness that politics had oppressed us with for so long. Voting not just about race, but in honesty and trust... something human. But the election is not the end all be all of the racial problems we face here in the US. Racism is still alive. You cannot kill the effects of 400 years of racism, dehumanization, slavery, and the depths of systematic racism in one presidential election. Welcome back to reality.

The cartoon below is a carbon copy of our visual history in the US. Memories that only a few months ago many felt had been defeated and were ready to let go. This cartoon is capable of accosting the memories of racist cartoons that existed only a few decades ago, and in many ways influenced generations to carry on the stereotypical notions of the work. This cartoon is in poor taste, created and published without any thought of the historical darkness that icons like this represent. Publicity good or bad is never bad, so the saying goes, yet, I would argue that images like this only acquiesce the notions of how black folks feel white america sees them, and other minority groups as well. There really isn't anything positive or witty in this image, if it's intentions were to be witty and draw parallels to the issue in connecticut I would say the artist failed horribly, as well as the NY post. It's a sad attempt.

I have another saying: opinions are like assholes, everyones got one. But, some weren't allowed that option to speak theirs either... this reminds me of that.
